The Flying Lizards were pushed hard by Caldy, but held on to win 30-19 and clinch the Halifax 7s title.
Last year’s losing finalists took an early and from their commanded an enthralling final.
Their opponents Caldy, who missed out on last year’s competition, were strong throughout the tournament and were looking to repeat their success of 2013.
But despite pushing hard, the Lizards managed to fend off the three-time champions to lift the Andrew Feather Memorial Cup on a stunning day in West Yorkshire.
Elsewhere, The Codfathers were the winners of the social title after they beat local side Heath in a final which went to extra-time but eventually saw the Whitby side come out on top.
As always, the competition was played in the right sprit and fashion all day and provided spectators with some high quality elite rugby sevens.
The Huddersfield Giants cheerleaders played their part once again and the entertainment on show was perfect for a rugby festival.
Yet again, it was a well organised and well run 7s tournament in Halifax and work for 2016 will have already begun.
